Message from the Grand Worthy President
Jim Roberts, the 2008-2009 Grand Worthy President, joined the Olathe Aerie in 1964. He has been a very loyal and active member shown through his Eagle service as Grand Aerie Trustee, Grand Worthy Chaplain, South Central Regional President, Kansas State Aerie President along with all local and state offices. To Jim, Eagledom means being with friends and raising funds for charities.
- a great big THANK YOU to all of the people who make this organization what it is—and that is YOU my Brothers and Sisters across this jurisdiction! You sign up the members, raise the funds for our charities, and volunteer all of the hours that you do; you make the FOE the greatest organization in the world.
Yours in brotherhood,My wife, Pat, and I would like to express a heartfelt THANKS to all of the Brothers and Sisters we met on our visits. We appreciate your great hospitality and friendship—and of course the food. I am sure we will see you down the Eagle Trail in the future.
Best wishes to Mike and Jean during their upcoming year.
Jim Roberts

As I pen my last letter as Grand Madam President, I have selected congratulations as my word for the month. Congratulations on your accomplishments in fundraising for our charities, promoting our programs and recruiting new members. Congratulations, too, on your ability to serve our great organization and to enjoy the fellowship represented by the FOE.
I also extend a sincere thank you to the leaders and the individuals who made things happen within our organization—the local, state and national officers, the committee members and the staff at the Grand Aerie in Grove City. Thanks to those of you who hosted me during my travels, drove me from place to place, fed me, mailed packages for me, presented me with gifts—and the list goes on.
While checks will be presented during the International Convention, I want to congratulate you on your achievements for my charity, the Hutch School in Seattle. Congratulations, too, on your ability to recruit new members. As you may already know, we had 1,200 more members in 2009 than we had a year ago, which is a step in the right direction.
As I prepare to attend the International Convention in Reno, I do so with mixed emotions. I am so proud of what we have accomplished together. Yet, I will miss the opportunity to take to the road and meet and spend time with many of you.
Someone asked me what was the highlight of my year, and I said that I could not respond because there were so many highlights. I feel very fortunate to have many friends within the FOE and tremendous memories from the past 12 months.
Thanks again to everyone and best wishes to Jean and Mike during the coming year.
Yours in sisterhood,
Pat Durham
